How Does Global Warming Happen?

Updated: Feb 8

Our modern world depends on fossil fuels. Fossil fuels are minerals like oil that are found deep in the Earth. But when these minerals are dug out, it releases HUGE amounts of carbon dioxide into the Earth. CO2 is a greenhouse gas, it traps heat inside the atmosphere.

The Sun sends heat to Earth. Usually, some of the heat is absorbed by the organisms on Earth, then the left-overs get sent into space. But instead, with so much carbon in the air, it traps heat, kind of like a greenhouse. So that is why the Earth is rapidly warming.
